Israeli Genocide in Gaza Enters 580th Day, Death Toll Surpasses 52,000

Gaza, 8 May (PIC): The Israeli military’s ongoing genocide in Gaza has now entered its 580th day. This deadly campaign intensified 52 days ago when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu unilaterally broke the ceasefire agreement and resumed attacks with full U.S. political and military support. Meanwhile, the silence and inaction of the international community have allowed the bloodshed to continue.
According to reporters from the Palestinian Information Center, the Israeli military carried out dozens of airstrikes in different areas. Since March, a complete ban on food deliveries has created a terrifying image of hunger and famine in Gaza.
In southern Gaza’s Rafah city, the Israeli army demolished several residential buildings with explosions.
In Gaza City, a young man named Muhammad Ghazi Al-Yazji was martyred after being seriously injured in an Israeli attack on the “Sharea Al-Wahida” market. In the same attack, two brothers, Muhammad and Saeed Faraj Al-Saftawi, were also martyred.
In Al-Qarara, northeast of Khan Yunis, bombing of a refugee tent camp injured four people.
Near Hayy Al-Nasr in western Gaza City, a house was bombed by a helicopter, injuring several civilians.
Heavy shelling also took place in the eastern areas of Gaza City (Hayy Al-Tuffah), the Nuseirat camp in central Gaza, and in eastern and southern Khan Yunis.
The areas of Shuja’iyya and Al-Zaytoun were hit with shelling and gunfire, while another airstrike occurred in eastern Khan Yunis.
In Nuseirat camp, five people were injured in a bombing on the Abu Ajwa family’s house.
In northern Gaza’s Beit Lahia, five members of the Rayyan family were martyred in an airstrike on their home.
Another home of the Rayyan family near Tel Al-Rabee School was also bombed, causing more deaths and injuries. In the same area, Israeli shelling near Sala Al-Tayyib injured many people.
Near Baraka Al-Sheikh Radwan in eastern Gaza City, two civilians were killed in a helicopter attack on a displaced persons’ tent camp.
In eastern Khan Yunis, a girl named Alma Muhammad Ali Abu Tair was martyred in an Israeli airstrike on the town of Abasan.
In Al-Bureij camp (central Gaza), Civil Defense teams recovered four more bodies from the rubble of Abu Hamisa School, bringing the total number of martyrs at the school to 33.
In a separate bombing on Abasan Jadida town, one person was martyred and several others were injured.
In Beit Lahia, during the effort to recover bodies and missing persons from a collapsed house, a Civil Defense worker was also injured.
According to Palestinian medical sources, 114 civilians were martyred and dozens injured by Israeli bombings on Wednesday alone.
At the same time, the World Central Kitchen has announced it will shut down completely starting Thursday, May 8, due to a complete lack of food supplies. All borders of Gaza have been closed for more than a month, and aid delivery has been halted.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, in the last 24 hours, 38 people were martyred and 145 injured. Four of the bodies were pulled from under the rubble.
The ministry reports that since March 18, 2025, a total of 2,545 people have been martyred and 6,856 injured.
Since the start of the Israeli aggression on October 7, 2023, the total number of martyrs has reached 52,653, and the number of injured is 118,897.
These figures are not final, as many bodies are still buried under rubble or lying in the streets, and rescue teams cannot reach them.
