Fire Breaks Out at Mahakumbh Due to Cylinder Explosion; Several Cottages Burned

Prayagraj (Allahabad): A third major incident occurred at the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj. A fire broke out on Friday morning (7th February) at the ISKCON kitchen in Sector-18, Shankaracharya Marg of the fair area. Several cottages were reduced to ashes in the fire. Upon receiving the news, fire brigade teams quickly arrived at the scene and managed to control the fire after a significant effort. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported.
The camp where the fire broke out housed Maharaj cottages equipped with air conditioners. According to reports, the fire was triggered by the explosion of a gas cylinder in the AC. The Kumbh administration confirmed that the fire in Sector-18 was brought under control, and no injuries or loss of life were reported.
Earlier, a similar incident occurred at the Geeta Press Gorakhpur camp in Mahakumbh, where a massive fire broke out. While there were no fatalities, one woman suffered minor burns, and another person was injured during the chaos that followed the fire. Over 100 cottages were destroyed in that incident. The administration cited a gas cylinder leakage as the cause of the fire.
In a previous event, the large crowd of bathers on a Sunday at the fair made it challenging for fire brigade vehicles to reach the site quickly. However, due to swift relief efforts, the fire was controlled promptly.
