Four European Countries Support Arab Plan for Gaza Reconstruction

London, 9 March – (PIC): The foreign ministers of France, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom have announced their support for the Arab plan to rebuild Gaza, which will cost $53 billion. This plan ensures that Gaza residents will not be displaced.
According to Reuters, the ministers stated in a joint statement that this plan provides a realistic solution for rebuilding Gaza. If implemented, it promises quick and lasting improvement in the living conditions of Palestinians affected by the war.
Egypt’s Role in the Plan
- Egypt drafted the plan, and Arab leaders approved it earlier this month.
- However, U.S. President Donald Trump rejected it.
Last Thursday, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty and U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Wotcoff, discussed this Arab reconstruction plan over the phone.
Egypt’s Commitment to Gaza
On Friday, Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tamim Khalaf confirmed that Abdel Aty had reviewed the Arab reconstruction plan, its phases, and its elements. During his phone call with the U.S. official, Abdel Aty emphasized the unified Arab support for the plan.
He also highlighted that Egypt looks forward to having constructive discussions with President Trump and the U.S. administration to thoroughly evaluate the plan and its benefits.
Call for Cooperation
- Abdel Aty stressed the need for all parties to ensure the implementation of the ceasefire agreement.
- He urged Israel to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza and work with Arab countries to facilitate post-war recovery and reconstruction.
- Wotcoff acknowledged the plan and noted that it has positive elements. He expressed interest in learning more details in the future.
