Scholars Visiting Israel Are Traitors, Faith-Sellers, and Enemies of Islam: Al-Azhar University

Cairo, 12 July – (PIC): The famous Islamic institution of Egypt, Al-Azhar University, along with Egypt’s Grand Mufti, has strongly condemned the so-called scholars who visited Israel pretending to be European imams. Al-Azhar has said this act is a clear insult to Islam and Muslims.

In an official statement, Al-Azhar said it is deeply saddened to hear that some people, calling themselves European religious leaders, visited the land occupied by Israel and even met with the leaders of the Zionist enemy. These people talked about peace and interfaith harmony, but their real purpose was to cover up Israel’s crimes against Palestinians.

Al-Azhar emphasized that these self-proclaimed imams ignored the suffering of Palestinian people, the genocide, bloodshed, and the killing of innocent civilians that has been happening for the last 20 months.

According to the statement, these people have dead hearts and blind eyes. They saw the bodies of children, the destroyed homes, and the cries of mothers, but they remained silent. Al-Azhar said such people have no humanity, no religion, no morals, and no connection to the Muslim world.

Al-Azhar warned that these people are like hired agents, who sell their religion and disrespect the emotions of the Muslim Ummah for their own benefit. These kinds of people will always be remembered as part of the dark chapters of history.

Al-Azhar made it clear that these fake scholars do not represent Islam or Muslims, and they are not part of the true tradition of scholars and imams who always stand with the oppressed and speak against oppressors.

The Grand Mufti of Egypt, Nazir Ayad, also strongly criticized the visit and called it shameful and disgusting. He said these people have sold their faith and conscience, and by using the name of Islam, they stood with the occupiers of Palestine.

He added, “They talk about dialogue and peace at a time when streets of Gaza are full of blood, when children’s bodies are under the rubble, and when mothers are screaming in pain. They speak of peace, but that peace is based on violence and lies.”

Mufti Ayad said that this so-called dialogue is not real. It is a political trick to hide the crimes of Israel. Their main goal is to show Israel as a peaceful and religious country, so that the world accepts the ongoing cruelty against Palestinians.

He asked: “What kind of dialogue is held over the dead bodies of the oppressed? What kind of coexistence is built on the heads of martyrs?”

This message from Al-Azhar and the Grand Mufti is clear: Islam does not support any relationship with an occupier, killer, or cruel state. Islam does not accept such false representatives as part of the Muslim Ummah.
