Hamas Agrees to Release 10 Hostages with Plan for Gaza Ceasefire and Israeli Withdrawal

Gaza, 10 July – (PIC): Hamas leader Tahir al-Nunu announced that the group has agreed to release 10 Israeli prisoners currently held in Gaza. This decision is aimed at allowing humanitarian aid to enter Gaza and stopping Israeli attacks.
Speaking to journalists, al-Nunu said that Hamas is showing flexibility in the ongoing talks in Qatar, even though the negotiations are facing major challenges.
He clarified that Hamas will only agree to a deal if it includes a complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and a full ceasefire.
He also stressed that international guarantees are necessary, especially from the United States, which has real influence over Israel. According to al-Nunu, a ceasefire can only happen if the U.S. chooses to pressure Israel politically and stops supporting its war actions.
The main focus of Hamas in the negotiations is the rights of the Palestinian people and their dignity.
Al-Nunu explained that Hamas is cooperating in talks to end the humanitarian crisis and ensure respectful aid delivery to Palestinians. Two key issues are being discussed:
- Unrestricted humanitarian aid without Israeli control.
- First stage of Israeli troop withdrawal from certain areas in Gaza, with no harm to Palestinian life and to prepare for the next phase of negotiations.
He confirmed that a 60-day initial agreement is being discussed, which would include a complete ceasefire and Israeli military withdrawal, followed by talks for a final agreement.
These indirect talks between Hamas and Israel are being held in Doha, Qatar, and aim to end the violence that began in October 2023.
