Shooting at Aligarh Muslim University; Student Mohammed Kaif Killed

Aligarh, 2 March – (www.deccanlive.com): On Saturday, a shooting took place between two groups on the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) campus, resulting in the death of a student. According to Proctor Mohammed Waseem, the incident happened at the gate of ABK Union School, where Mohammed Kaif, an 11th-grade student, was shot and killed.
Mohammed Kaif, a resident of Quarsi Ali Nagar Colony Dharuhera, was a commerce student in 11th grade at AMU. The police and university proctorial team reached the spot, took custody of the body, and sent it to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College’s mortuary. CCTV footage is being checked as part of the investigation. Kaif’s family has demanded strict punishment for the culprits.
His father, Mohammed Naeem, stated that his son had no enmity with anyone and was focused on his studies, as his exams were ongoing. He urged the government and police to arrest the suspects quickly and give them the harshest punishment.
According to police officer Abhijeet Pandey, a fight broke out between two groups of students near ABK School in the Civil Lines police station area. The fight soon turned violent, and during the clash, Mohammed Kaif was shot.
As soon as the police received the information, they arrived at the scene and took Kaif to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College for treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. A case has been registered based on the complaint received, and a team has been formed to arrest the suspects. The police assured that the accused will be arrested soon.
University Proctor Mohammed Waseem Ali stated that the shooting happened at the gate of ABK Union (Boys) School, leading to Kaif’s death. Kaif was a commerce student at S.S. Hameed Secondary School, and his father is an employee at the university.
