ED Files Case on Vijay Deverakonda, Rana Daggubati and 29 Others for Promoting Banned Betting Apps

Hyderabad, 10 July – (www.deccanlive.com): The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed cases against 29 people, including actors and influencers, for promoting illegal betting apps. Popular Telugu film stars Vijay Deverakonda, Rana Daggubati, Manchu Lakshmi, Prakash Raj, Nidhi Agarwal, Ananya Nagalla, and TV personalities like Srimukhi are among those named.
The ED is acting based on an FIR filed by Cyberabad Police and will investigate under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Police allege that these celebrities, YouTubers, and social media influencers promoted banned betting apps and received large payments and commissions for doing so.
Sections from the Indian Penal Code, Telangana Gaming Act, and Information Technology Act have been applied in the case. The FIR also states that many people took loans, lost money due to these apps, and some even died by suicide, leading to financial distress in several families.
The ED will now conduct a full investigation into the financial transactions and promotions related to these apps.
