Hyderabad: Heavy Rain in the City – Step Out Only If Necessary

Hyderabad, 18 July – (www.deccanlive.com): Heavy rain is lashing the city of Hyderabad. The downpour began around 3 PM and is continuing non-stop. Due to the intense rain across nearly all areas of the city, roads are flooded and are resembling rivers. Traffic has been disrupted, and low-lying colonies are waterlogged.

Areas like Banjara Hills, Ameerpet, LB Nagar, Kukatpally, Miyapur, Malakpet, Chanchalguda, and Musheerabad are experiencing heavy rainfall. In many places, drainage systems have overflowed, and vehicles are stuck in the water. Additionally, power supply has been interrupted in several areas.

GHMC’s monitoring teams have become alert and are reviewing the situation in low-lying regions. Officials stated that staff have been deployed to several places. Locals complained that rainwater has entered their homes in some areas.

Main roads have been completely jammed, and due to non-functioning traffic signals, commuters are facing major inconvenience. Police are working to control the traffic, but the heavy rain during peak hours is making the situation worse.

According to the weather department, rain is expected to continue for the next 24 hours in Hyderabad. Some areas may experience thunderstorms and lightning along with heavy rainfall.

In light of the heavy rain, officials have advised citizens to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary. Those living in low-lying areas should remain cautious, and in case of any emergency, they are advised to call 100 or 040–29555500, as per GHMC’s request.
