Telangana: Congress Leader Commits Suicide Along with Mother in Jangaon
Jangaon, 11 July – (www.deccanlive.com): A tragic incident took place in Jangaon district, Telangana, where a local Congress leader and his elderly mother died by suicide, leaving the community in deep shock and sorrow.
Who Were the Victims?
The deceased have been identified as Dayakar Reddy (55), a former municipal councillor and Congress party leader, and his 85-year-old mother Ahalya Devi. They were living together in the Girnigadda area of Jangaon town. Dayakar had remained unmarried, dedicating his life to caring for his mother.
What Happened?
According to police and locals, both mother and son were suffering from serious health issues. A few days ago, Ahalya Devi was attacked by monkeys, which caused her to fall and suffer a serious spinal injury. She had undergone surgery but continued to struggle with her health. At the same time, Dayakar himself was also dealing with severe back pain and was unable to get proper support or care.
With no one else at home to help them and growing loneliness, they reportedly fell into depression.
The Suicide
On Thursday morning, both mother and son allegedly consumed pesticide and died by suicide. Locals noticed something was wrong and informed Dayakar’s elder brother, Vasudeva Reddy, who lives in Hyderabad. He rushed to the village and later filed a complaint with the police.
Police Investigation
Police registered a case and began investigation. They suspect the two mixed poison in a drink and took their lives. According to preliminary findings and family statements, loneliness and health issues were likely the main reasons for their tragic decision. Police have ruled out any foul play.
This heart-wrenching incident has left the entire local community in grief, showing how mental health struggles and lack of support can lead to devastating outcomes, even when people are financially stable.
