GATE 2025 Topper: Nellore Boy Balances Job and Preparation to Secure First Rank
Hyderabad, 20 March – (www.deccanlive.com): The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee announced the results of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025 on Wednesday, March 19. This exam is conducted for admission into M.Tech and Ph.D. programs in IITs and other prestigious institutions for the academic year 2025-26. The exam was held on February 1, 2, 15, and 16 across 30 subjects, with around 8.37 lakh applicants. About 80% of the candidates appeared for the exam. Candidates can download their scorecards from March 28 to May 31 by entering their enrollment ID, email address, and password.
A Telugu student has made headlines by securing the All India First Rank in GATE 2025. Dr. Sadineni Nikhil Chowdary from Amancherla in Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore district scored an impressive 96.33 marks out of 100 in the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence test paper. Earlier, he also secured the 57th rank in the NEET exam.
Balancing Job and Preparation
Nikhil is currently working as the Director of Informatics at ExpertDocs in Noida. Despite having a full-time job, he managed to balance his preparation effectively. After work, he studied for 4 to 5 hours daily and dedicated 7 to 8 hours of focused study on weekends. Nikhil mentioned that his dream is to pursue an M.Tech in Artificial Intelligence, which motivated him to work hard and achieve this success.
Strong Academic Background
Nikhil’s father, Sadineni Srinivasulu, works at Prakasam Engineering College in Kandukur, and his mother, Bindu Madhavi, is a software engineer. Coming from an educated family, Nikhil has always been academically strong. He studied his 10th and 12th in Hyderabad, scoring 9.8 CGPA in 10th and 98.6% in 12th. In 2017, he secured the 57th rank in NEET and the 22nd rank in the AIIMS entrance exam, after which he completed his MBBS from AIIMS Delhi. In 2024, Nikhil completed an online degree in Data Science from IIT Madras.
Nikhil’s journey proves that with determination and proper time management, success is achievable even while managing a demanding job.
