Engineer Caught Taking ₹90,000 Bribe for Approving Bill

Kalvasrirampur (Peddapalli), 13 July – (www.deccanlive.com): A Panchayat Raj department Assistant Engineer (AE) named Jagadeesh was caught red-handed by ACB (Anti-Corruption Bureau) officials on Saturday for demanding a bribe of ₹90,000 to approve a bill related to road construction.
According to ACB DSP Vijay Kumar, a contractor named Kaveti Raju from Bayyampalle village (Odela Mandal) recently constructed CC roads (cement concrete roads) in Vennampalle village under Kalvasrirampur Mandal, spending about ₹15 lakh.
When the contractor approached AE Jagadeesh to get his bill approved, the official allegedly demanded ₹1 lakh as bribe, but they later agreed on ₹90,000.
The contractor then complained to the ACB. Based on their plan, the trap was laid in Gangaram village. While the contractor was handing over ₹90,000 to the AE, ACB officials arrested him on the spot.
This incident took place in public view, near the main crossroads of Gangaram village, making it a hot topic in the district, as a government officer was caught taking a bribe openly on the road.
