World’s Longest Ramadan Fast: 20.5 Hours in Sweden & Norway

Hyderabad, 3 March – (www.deccanlive.com): The longest fast in the world during Ramadan this year is in Sweden and Norway, lasting 20 hours and 30 minutes. In Greenland and Iceland, the fast lasts 20 hours.

On the other hand, the shortest fast is in Chile, where it is only 11 hours long.

In Arab countries, the longest fast is in Algeria, lasting 16 hours and 44 minutes. In Saudi Arabia, Medina, New York (USA), and Türkiye, the fasting duration is 13 hours.

In Pakistan, people fast for 12 hours and 58 minutes.

In Brazil, South Africa, Argentina, New Zealand, UAE, India, and Indonesia, the fast lasts 12 hours and 30 minutes.

In Johannesburg and Cape Town (South Africa), Ciudad del Este (Paraguay), and Montevideo (Uruguay), the fast duration is 11 to 12 hours, making them among the places with the shortest fasts in the world.

The difference in fasting duration happens because of different sunrise and sunset times in various countries.
