Arab Countries Support Egyptian Plan for Gaza Reconstruction

Cairo, 5 March (PIC): During an emergency Arab summit hosted by Egypt to discuss the future of Gaza, the plan presented by Cairo has been approved. Arab leaders have urged the occupying Israeli forces to stop the ongoing brutal aggression against Palestinians.

The Arab summit welcomed the proposal to hold an international conference in Cairo this month for the reconstruction of Gaza.

They also called on the international community to support Egypt’s plan for Gaza, which has been devastated by war. The final statement of the summit emphasized adopting the Egyptian plan for the future of Gaza.

This plan has emerged as a copy of Egypt’s plan for the reconstruction of Gaza. Recently, Reuters reported that Egypt’s proposed plan is estimated to cost $53 billion.

They further stated that the Egyptian plan, spanning 112 pages, includes maps showing the reconstruction of Gaza’s land, housing projects, parks, and community centers. These are displayed in dozens of colorful, AI-generated images.

The plan also includes a commercial port, a technology center, and beachfront hotels.
The Egyptian plan rejects the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza and emphasizes accelerating efforts to establish an independent Palestinian state.

The Egyptian plan is designed within the framework of a two-state solution, which will pave the way for normalized relations between regional countries and Israel.

The plan also mentions training Palestinian police officers from Egypt and Jordan to maintain security in the area. This will later facilitate the return of the Palestinian Authority to manage Gaza.

The proposed plan includes forming an administrative committee made up of Palestinians, which will work for six months. This committee will consist of independent technocrats under the umbrella of the Palestinian government.

The plan also highlights the possibility of studying the idea of an international presence through peacekeeping forces in Palestinian areas, as suggested by the Security Council.

The plan emphasizes a clear solution to the issue of armed groups and stresses the need for a credible political process.

Additionally, the plan states that residents of destroyed Gaza will be temporarily relocated to seven areas with temporary shelters. A ceasefire in Gaza will also be announced for a specific period.

They explained that the “initial recovery” phase will last for six months. The cost for facilities and housing during this phase will be $3 billion.

The plan states that the first phase of reconstruction will cost $20 billion and will be completed in two years. The second phase will cost $30 billion and will be completed in two and a half years.

The Egyptian proposal emphasizes following the two-state solution. This will eliminate any cause of instability and conflict in the Middle East and pave the way for normal relations between regional countries and Israel.

Cairo has increased its efforts in recent weeks to resolve the Palestinian conflict. U.S. President Donald Trump had presented an unconventional plan for Gaza. He said he wanted to take control of Gaza, relocate Palestinians to Egypt and Jordan, and then rebuild it. However, his plan faced strong opposition from Arab countries.

During this time, Arab countries united to oppose this proposal and presented an alternative solution.
